KARDIO PREVENT – A Modern Center for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation in Skopje
For the CARDIO PREVENT project, KRUG SHT Engineering developed an interior design solution for the first center for cardiovascular prevention and outpatient cardiovascular rehabilitation in Macedonia.
The project represents the transformation of a 108 m² commercial space into a contemporary healthcare environment, carefully organized to accommodate the various programs and activities offered by the center:
— cardiovascular prevention
— outpatient cardiovascular rehabilitation
— nutrition and weight loss programs
— smoking cessation programs
— psychological support
— cardiovascular yoga
— educational lectures and workshops
— individual consultations and medical assessments
The main design concept was to ensure that the space would not be perceived as a traditional medical facility, but rather as a modern center for health, prevention, and rehabilitation — a place that creates a sense of trust, calmness, and comfort from the very first interaction with the space.
The interior is dominated by natural wood textures, light neutral tones, and clean minimalist lines. The space is organized into flexible zones that support different usage scenarios — from cardio training and individual treatments to group education sessions and presentations.
During the design process, special focus was placed on the human perception of space, as atmosphere, lighting, and the feeling of comfort have a direct impact on the overall experience of both patients and medical staff.
Particular attention was given to circulation flow, natural lighting, and the creation of a pleasant environment for everyday stay and work. The goal was to create a space that would visually and functionally contribute to the process of prevention, rehabilitation, and improvement of quality of life.
The project represents a contemporary approach to healthcare design in Macedonia, where medical functionality, education, and the wellbeing concept are integrated into a single unified space.
